Trustees at a castle are bracing themselves for fundraising activities to be hit again by the latest lockdown.

Whttington’s popular tea rooms, which reopened in July after the initial lockdown, moved to serving takeaway food to visitors when when restrictions first began to tighten.

However, Jonjo Evans, chairman of the trustees, says with another lockdown and strict government guidelines in place, the kitchen at the castle would now be closed.

He said: “We have carefully considered what to do about opening kitchen@thecastle.

"We feel the safest option is to close for the next two weeks and thereafter review opening for takeaways on a limited number of days.

“We hope it won’t be long before we can offer our food again. In the meantime, you are all welcome to walk around the castle.”
