Telford Steam Railway launches new season
Easter is here and it's full steam ahead as the expanding Telford Steam Railway launches its new season on the tracks.
The volunteer led trust is rolling out the locomotives this weekend after months of preparation to host three fun days at the heritage attraction, in Bridge Road, Horsehay.
Children will ride free at the season opening event which will feature train rides and be egg hunts from April 20-22 from 10am-4pm. There will be face painting and a bouncy castle among the activities.
The steam railway's commercial manager Jemma Thompson says: "We are looking forward to starting our season with our Easter Eggstravaganza opening weekend. It is a family fun packed weekend organised over Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Adults are £7 and children are free for whole event.
"We are excited to have many events this year including our murder mystery, gin tasting, wine tasting and our participation in the Telford Film Festival at the end of the season.
"We are focused on welcoming volunteers this year and have a volunteer week arranged for June. We have also started the process of the extension track to Doseley and we're aiming for a completion date to open it up next season."
Easter fun day tickets can be purchased on the day and there is limited car parking on site.
The murder mystery evening is on May 11 at 5.30pm. The cost will be £30 per person or £100 for a table of four.
"We have a newly renovated tearoom offering afternoon teas and freshly made sandwiches and cakes. We also are looking forward to having our steam locomotive rocket returning this season. We are looking forward to a very successful and busy season ahead of us with big plans for the future," she added.

The popular steam railway is open every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from April 20 until September 29 plus selected Saturdays for special events.
