Bridgnorth Carnival

Bridgnorth carnival procession started at Nock Deighton Auction House and was watched by members of the public who lined the streets as it headed down to Severn Park where the activities continued.

Councillor Sarah Stevens said the council had the most number of floats ever entered.

She said: "It's gone brilliantly, we've had probably the most floats entered that we've ever had and the atmosphere was buzzing.

"Every road from the auction house down to Severn Park was lined with people, it was a really great atmosphere.

"Everyone was out and following the procession down so we had lots of people in Severn Park where we have about one third more stalls than last time.

"We've also put in a food festival element this year as we had so many applications from food companies, so it's got a real food festival feel too."

Ashley Kendrick, PA to the town clerk and mayor's secretary, said a resident stopped her in the street and told her the procession brought tears to her eyes.

She said: "I think it's gone really really well, we've had so many more attractions than in previous years.

"I actually had someone stop me in the street saying it's fantastic and it brought tears to their eyes which was lovely to hear.

"It brought lots of people out to see the fantastic floats, and the quality of them all just goes up and up every year.

"There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes that people don't know takes place but it's all paid off and the weather has really helped too."
