The RAF Falcons will be opening the Cosford Air Show this year

The Falcons, famous for their colourful aerial display, will be part of this year's six-hour show on Sunday, June 10.

Their performing includes a variety of movements across the sky in freefall using coloured smokes to illustrate a pattern in the sky.

They are also well known for their close proximity flying.

The team will also be carrying the Royal Air Force's RAF100 baton into the show as part of a commemorative relay.

Other recently announced participants are the RAF Tutor Display Team with their Grob Tutor, which is used to train Air Squadron students and for Air Experience Flights to members of the Air Cadet organisation.

This year's Cosford Air Show is going to be bigger than ever to celebrate 100 years of the RAF.

For the first time the airshow will also feature four themed villages, each of them exploring a different era of the last century.

Thousands of guests will be able to explore zones based on Policing the Empire, The War Years, An Age of Uncertainty and the New Millennium.

Each zone will include re-enactments and activities, as well as planes from each era.

From the very first planes used by the service through to the high tech jets of today, 100 static planes will be on show across the museum, one for each year the air force has existed.
