The strength of the line-up was a testament to the strength in depth of British women’s pro-wrestling, as despite many performers, including one half of the Kamikaze Pro-Wrestling Tag Team Champions Mille McKenzie, busy either performing overseas or preparing for future WWE UK Television Tapings in Glasgow, we still had a strong afternoon of action.

Rise of an Empress was built around a one-night tournament to crown their first ever women’s champion. The field of eight included talent from around the word, featuring performers from Canada, Portugal and Australia who all now regularly perform in the West Midlands.

Of the performers, a last-minute replacement for McKenzie, Chakara, impressed with 'The Golden Goddess' both riling up the fans and bringing real physicality to her matches as she dominated Sierra Loxton and Shanna.

She would ultimately fall to the latter women, but this was an impressive debut, which hopefully leads to further matches from somebody who has been impressing down the road in the East Midlands for Wrestling Resurgence.

Joining Shanna in the final was Chantal Jordan, who is a 15-year trainee at Kamikaze Pro-Wrestling’s pro-wrestling school, with her background in kickboxing coming through in her offence, much to the amusement of some members of the crowd, who chanted 'you’ve only got one move'.

She tremendous poise in the ring, first overcoming Charli Evans and then former WWE UK performer Lana Austin, despite giving up much of the match.

The final was a highly enjoyable match, with an uncharacteristically and temporarily enraged Shanna taking out her frustrations on an opponent who was 21 years younger than her.

In a match that was fought under no-disqualification rules, they brawled all over the Cadbury Club, with Shanna not only slamming Jordan into the bar but also pouring several bins of rubbish over her.

When they got back in the ring, Shanna broke a wet floor sign over her opponents head. Jordan would make a comeback, but the veteran would eventually secure the victory to claim the new women’s championship.

It was a strong end to a very fun show, with the new championship promising to be a highlight of future Kamikaze Pro-Wrestling shows, especially considering when they can add the likes of Millie McKenzie and Nina Samuels to the mix.

More broadly, there was a nice atmosphere in the Cadbury Club, as whilst their shows in Coventry’s Empire Nightclub can be quite rowdy, this show had a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

Rise of An Empress will shortly be available on video-on-demand. Their next show at the Cadbury Club will be Kamikaze Pro Live 16 on Sunday, May 4, 2019.
