Broseley History Society will welcome Gavin Smith on February 6, where he will give his talk '(Almost) the complete archaeology of the Iron Bridge'.

The meeting will take place from 7.30pm at Broseley Social Club, in High Street, Broseley.

He will talk about the history of the Iron Bridge, his experiences of working on the bridge and the recent colour change.

The work, which took all of last year, was carried out by English Heritage after it was discovered that the historic structure was under threat from cracking due to stresses in the ironwork dating from the original construction, ground movement over the centuries, and an earthquake in the 19th century.

Visitors are welcome to join the group for the talk for a donation towards costs.
