RuPaul's Drag Race star BenDeLaCreme coming to Birmingham

The season six Miss Congeniality winner and All Stars 3 favourite, played by 36-year-old Benjamin Putman, credits her interest in drag and burlesque to seeing Varla Jean Merman's Holiday Ham in Boston in 2001.

Since the mid-2000s DeLa has been based in Seattle. She is the hostess for The Atomic Bombshells burlesque troupe and teaches at Seattle's Academy of Burlesque.

The Drag icon has collaborated with many members of the Seattle burlesque community, including Drag Race season five winner Jinkx Monsoon.

DeLa rose to fame during her time on season six RuPaul's Drag Race, where she starred alongside the likes of Darienne Lake, Milk, Adore Delano, Courtney Act and Bianca Del Rio.

The queen was crowned Miss Congeniality following her appearance on the show, and has since joined the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 3 with such names as Trixie Mattel, ChiChi DeVayne, Thorgy Thor, Shangela, Bebe Zahara Benet and more.

BenDeLaCreme will appear at Birmingham's Glee Club on March 29.
