Panto stars donate more than £7,000 to Hope House Hospice

Leading dame and director Brad Fitt and Radio Shropshire 'baddie' Eric Smith organised a series of bucket collections over the Christmas period and have just presented the hospice with £7,792.44.

Vanessa Thomas from Hope House said it was a "staggering" sum to have raised and that the panto is close to the heart of the hospice, which has its base in Morda near Oswestry.

"It is a fantastic way to start a New Year and we are so grateful to Brad and Eric and the panto audiences for supporting us yet again," said Vanessa.

"This incredible donation brings the amount raised by the panto over the years to more than £75,000 – and added to that is the fun and delight the children and staff at Hope House have had from visiting Brad and his cast and watching the pantos.

"Every penny will be used to provide vital respite and end of life care to local children and families, and to help us achieve our ambition of being here to help everyone who suffers the death of a child they love."
