The Irish comedian and Westlife-Boyzone mash-up will come to Telford Town Park next year as part of the town's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The two acts are just some of a number of entertainment acts to be involved in the series of shows, which will run between August 4 and 19 as part of an "extravaganza of entertainment".

Boyzlife features Westlife’s Brian McFadden and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy. Other acts to take part in the two week event include opera superstar Russell Watson and Pub Landlord Al Murray.

There will also be a concert from Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro.

The series of shows will celebrate the 50th anniversary of both Telford and Oakengates Theatre.

Each of the performances will take place in a specially built big top within the town park that will seat up to 1,000. It will be called The Place In The Park.

Councillor Shaun Davies, leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "This will be a fabulous way of celebrating both Telford’s and the theatre’s 50th birthdays and there is something for everyone during the course of the run of events."

Tickets for Dara O'Briain went on sale yesterday, with Boyz2Life set to become available today.

Al Murray tickets will be available to purchase on Thursday, with Collabro going on offer on Friday.

More shows for the “extravaganza of entertainment” are set to be announced in the coming months.

The concerts will be part of a year of new or enhanced events to celebrate the landmark anniversary in the town.

Other events will include a Festival of Telford Giants, a pantomime about the town and a Japanese influenced Sakura Festival.

Especially written for Telford @50, Pantomania will pay homage to the people and places of Telford in a fun packed traditional family show with all the expected characters, comedy gags, audience participation and frivolity.

The Friends of the Town Park have organised the Sakura Festival, which will take place in Telford Town Park’s Maxell Gardens on April 21 and offer live Japanese music, Taiko Drummers, Japanese street food and more.

The annual Kite Festival will turn into a “Kite and Flight” Festival and, for the first time in many years, is set to include Hot Air Balloons.
