Shropshire breweries win medals in prestigious competition

Two ace Shropshire brewed ales pulled off bronze medal places at the prestigious beer championships.

Ludlow Brewery Co's gold beer came third in the golden ale category at the Campaign for Real Ale's Great British Beer Festival at Olympia London. While Shrewsbury based Salopian Brewing Co Ltd, in Hadnall, picked up the third place for its Automaton beer in the strong bitter category.

Their reward comes after almost a year of serving the tipples to tasting panels and attending regional heats resulting in the best beers from across being invited to compete in the capital.

More than 50,000 beer fans sipped more than 900 beers and wines.

The overall winner was Goat's Milk brewed by Church End Brewery, in Warwickshire.
