Artist exhibition comes to The Festival Drayton Centre - in pictures

It represents hours of dedication – from rural Shropshire scenes to the flowing moves of a dancer.

Artists who have spent months preparing their work are now proud to see their group’s latest collection hang on show in an exhibition.

The Festival Drayton Centre in Market Drayton is currently exhibiting a selection of work from the Shires’ Artists – a group of creative people from across Shropshire and neighbouring counties.

And the latest collection features a host of paintings showing what emotion gave the artists the prompt to begin their work.

Group member Patricia Hindley said Shires’ Artists launched in 2014.

"Within the group there are semi-professionals and some professionals. We are a mix of ages, experiences and styles of painting," she said.

"Some members work to commission and are in great demand. Some run their own teaching groups and one is 'artist in residence' at Bridgemere Garden World and is soon to run courses in the Lake District.

"A fair number of members have solo exhibitions which are most successful. Amongst us there is one who paints in felt and another is a sculptress.

"We are a sociable group, getting together to paint at various locations that appeal, and to enjoy each other’s company without wielding our brushes.

"Many styles, different subjects, a range of materials used and lots of different viewpoints helped to contribute to the exhibition that we hope people will enjoy."

More information can be found on the Shires’ Artists Facebook page.

Their work will be on show at the the Festival Drayton Centre until June 30.
