Dorothy Clive Garden near Market Drayton was the setting for the plant hunters' fair, which featured a large selection of specialist plants.

The event is now in its 10th year and included specialist nurseries with a national standing as well as small local plant growers.

Organisers welcomed back Brian and Steph from Avondale Nursery with a wide range of perennials including plants from their three national collections.

Other nurseries which attended included the award-winning Edrom Nursery from Scotland, Roseland House from Cornwall, Chelsea and Malvern medal-winning nursery Wildegoose and RHS Chelsea Gold Medallists Hall Farm Nursery.

Packhorse Farm Nursery from Derbyshire, Pottertons Nursery from Lincolnshire, and Jurassic Plant Nursery from Denbighshire were also among those present.

The event, which was held on Easter Sunday and yesterday, raised money for the Willoughbridge Garden Charitable Trust.

Curator, Kathryn Robey, said: "It has been a fantastic couple of days – really positive.

"We have had about 700 to 800 people on both days.

You get the true plant hunters first thing in the morning who are very excited.

"We have had a good range of plants, some of them are absolutely stunning," she added.

Janet Blow, one of the organisers, added: "This fair continues to attract the cream of specialist nurseries and there was something for everyone from alpines to ornamental trees, from azaleas to asters on the 15 stalls including plants from five national collections and five RHS medal winners."

There was plenty on show for visitors with massed plantings of spring bulbs, hellebores, early blossom and rhododendrons and more.

Nurseries brought spring flowering plants plus plenty of later flowering plants to get planted now.
