William Cash, who lives in Upton Cressett Hall, near Bridgnorth, married 29-year-old Lady Laura Cathcart, in Chelsea.

Miss Hurley is a long-standing friend of Mr Cash, the 47-year-old son of of Stone MP Bill Cash.

The actress even wore a hat made by the bride, who works as a milliner and owns a studio at Upton Cressett.

The service was led by Father Antony Sutch, who christened Lady Laura in 1984 and married her parents, Earl and Countess Cathcart, more than 30 years ago.

Mr Cash, who was marrying for the third time, said: "He had previously also married my sister Laetita so he is very much the family priest. Laura was especially happy to get married in Chelsea close to where she was brought up as a young girl – as well as Norfolk – and that meant a lot to her.

"It was so nice to have a mix of friends from Norfolk, Shropshire and London. Guests included Elizabeth Hurley and her son, Damian, who was a page."

Guests from Shropshire included Viscount and Viscountess Boyne, Mr and Mrs Rupert Kenton-Slaney, and Bobby and Grania Read, who live near Ludlow and whose daughter, Miranda, is William's goddaughter.

Other county guests included Louise Acton, Piers Whitaker, Robin Smith Ryland, who is a regular with the South Shropshire hunt, Mark and Melissa Carter-Motley of Eccleshall Castle, near Stafford, and Lord and Lady Hamilton, from Apley, who later joined the evening celebrations at The Gore Hotel.
