SBC Training, which was formed 35 years ago in Whitchurch, is about to move from its former home in Harlescott Lane in Shrewsbury to new-build premises on Vanguard Way.

Managing director Colin Thaw said the move would allow it to provide more training for those entering work for the first time, returning to work, or looking to up-skill their existing workforce.

"We've always been passionate about the quality of training which we deliver and focus on ensuring that both learners and employers can quantify the benefit of what they're investing in with us," he said.

"We offer training across business management, health and social care and across technical areas, too, and it's been the growth in demand, in particular, for training in engineering, manufacturing and electrical skills that has led to our phenomenal growth in recent years.

He added: "To ensure that we're always at the forefront of our offer we recently invested in two specialist CNC machines for the training workshop but these put additional strain on the space available in our existing base.

"We were, therefore, delighted to discover the new-build unit nearby on Vanguard Way after looking in to alternative sites for a while."

The new facility, which is currently being fitted out to SBC's requirements, offered the floor space the expanding business required, and parking for students and a mezzanine floor to provide offices away from the training and workshop space.

The deal was organised alongside Shropshire law firm FBC Manby Bowdler, and specifically Shrewsbury-based associate David Raymont, who helped with the relinquishment of SBC's existing lease and securing the new one.

"The quality of the training delivered by SBC is evident in the rate at which they've grown and their vision to continue expanding and investing in modern and market-leading equipment meant that larger premises were vital," he said.

"It wasn't, however, until the high specification unit on Vanguard Park became available that all their boxes were ticked.

"I don't doubt that they will continue to go from strength to strength and look forward to working with Colin and the team more in the future."

SBC Training plans to launch its new facility in April.
