Letter: I met the miserable (Philip) Larkin in 1943 in the library. I have read his poetry and letters and met his fan club. I was one of the few who started Wellington Literary Festival. I am not a total ignoramus on the subject.
Letter: A young graduate in his first job in a strange town writes show-off derogatory remarks to university friends in private letters which carry as much weight as a late night chat after a few pints.
Letter: I think that your correspondent George Evans (Shropshire Star, March 16) has missed the point regarding the borough council’s request for Wellington townspeople’s views on the naming of a new thoroughfare in the town.
Letter: I think it would be misguided to remove from Wellington its association with one of the foremost poets (and novelists) of the 20th century.
