Three beacons being built on hills overlooking Church Stretton to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee have been saved thanks to a rallying cry from organisers, it was announced today.
A chain of beacons which will be lit across Britain to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee – including in Shropshire and Mid Wales – will be the highest the country has ever seen.
