Karl Henry is sorry for Wolves dismissal
Wednesday 25th January 2012, 10:59AM GMT.
Wolves midfielder Karl Henry today said sorry to fans for his red card against Villa – admitting he made a “stupid” mistake.
The former captain earned his marching orders for kicking out at Marc Albrighton in the 74th minute of the 3-2 defeat.
Henry’s subsequent three-match ban means he misses the games against Liverpool, QPR and Albion.
The score was 2-2 at the time and Wolves played on for 24 minutes with 10 men, because of the eight minutes added on for Emmanuel Frimpong’s injury.
Henry apologised to the players in the dressing room after the game and has now gone public.
He said: “I’ve apologised to the manager and the lads and would like to apologise to the fans, because it was really poor.
“It was all from one stupid mistake which cost the team. I left us with 10 men, which saw them get the winner. So I cost us and I’m really disappointed.”
Henry felt Villa winger Albrighton made the most of it but admitted to a bad error of judgement.
He said: “I was trying to get the ball and he was holding my leg.
“I just kicked out in frustration to get away. As soon as I did it, I thought ‘what have I done?’ because you can’t react like that.
“Marc Albrighton made the most of it but it was a bad error of judgement.
“Ultimately, it cost us.”
Henry’s third dismissal at Wolves means he is not available until a month today – the trip to Newcastle on February 25 – but manager Mick McCarthy has accepted his apology.
The Wolves boss said: “He’s still one of us – I don’t know too many people who haven’t made mistakes in their life. He hasn’t made many in the last five-and-a-half years.
“He got a kick up the backside for doing it but he’s got my support for the next 13 games he’s available for.”

He cannot head a ball, he seldom goes for a pass forward, he made the same mistake ‘error of judgement’ at Wigan, and he was the captain.
He is a liability, get rid he will cost Mc Carthy his job if he stays and does go stright back in the team.
