Edwards fit for Wolves’ Arsenal trip
Saturday 24th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.
Dave Edwards today gave Wolves a pre-Christmas boost by declaring himself fit for the visit to Arsenal Tuesday.
The Wales international has missed the last two games after coming off with a groin strain in the 4-1 defeat at Manchester United on December 10.
But the former Shrewsbury midfielder is preparing to return to full training and expects to make the Emirates trip.
“I did ‘late-stage rehab’ and so I’m looking to train over the weekend and, if I can come through that, I’ll be available for the Arsenal game,” said the 25-year-old.
“It was a groin strain which I had trouble with the week before the United game.
“It was quite tight, but I trained on the Thursday and the Friday and felt good enough to play.
“Then I hit a pass and felt it go. Because of previous problems I’ve had with my groins, I knew I’d better go off.
“I know my body a lot better now so I knew it was best to go off and miss two games rather than six or seven. But it’s getting a lot better.”
Edwards now admits he should have missed the trip to Old Trafford – and could have been able to return for the Norwich game.
“I should perhaps have taken an extra few days and missed the United game because we had two massive home matches,” he said.
“But hopefully I’ve resolved the issue and I’ll be fit for the rest of the season.
There is mixed news on Wolves’ other casualties.
Jody Craddock (hamstring) is doubtful as he is still under treatment, while Kevin Foley has a chance of travelling after coming through 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Crewe on Wednesday.
