AFC Telford United striker Adam Proudlock has been told he “must get better” – after winning a recall in place of injury-hit Andy Brown.

Former Wolves star Proudlock made his first start of the season on Saturday and set up Richard Davies for the Bucks’ goal as they were held 1-1 by Hayes & Yeading in their Blue Square Blue Premier clash.

But boss Andy Sinton insists he must raise his game if Brown – who has suffered a re-occurrence of a long-term hamstring problem – remains on the sidelines.

“I don’t think it’s a major thing for Browny but it was enough to keep him out on Saturday and it is frustrating,” said the Telford chief.

“It gave Adam Proudlock his chance and he did okay but he needs to be better.

“He’s a clever player and will have a big part to play for us with his experience.

“It’s hard when you haven’t had a game all year to come in and really set the world alight but sometimes, when you get your chance you have to take it.”

Meanwhile, Sinton has backed loan signing Conal Platt to make his mark on the club over the next month, despite a quiet debut against Hayes & Yeading.

Platt has joined on an emergency loan from Cambridge United, where he has already scored twice in the Blue Square Bet Premier this season.

“Conal was quite lively but we couldn’t get him on the ball in the second half,” said Sinton.

“He hasn’t played for a while but he’s got great quality. We had him in for training on Thursday night and he took my breath away, and the rest of the players too, with a couple of the things he did.

“He will be a useful addition while we have got two or three midfield players who have got concerns over fitness.”
