Wolves back on track claims Mick McCarthy

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy insists his recovering side are back in the groove despite losing 2-1 at Anfield.
Saturday’s defeat was Wolves’ third in a row in the Premier League but it came with a stirring second-half fightback that saw them push the Reds all the way.
And McCarthy believes if they can continue like that it won’t be long before they return to winning ways.
“The lads were terrific – it was a far better performance, much more like us and a Wolves performance,” said the boss. More like that and we will pick up points.”
McCarthy believed the first goal, an own goal by Roger Johnson, shouldn’t have been allowed because of a push by Andy Carroll in the build-up.
“Carroll pushed him going up for the header,” he said.
“I was annoyed because I think if it had happened anywhere else on the pitch it would have been given as a foul.
“For the second goal we tried to play offside and didn’t do it properly. But it was an excellent second half.”
