Mick McCarthy gives short shrift to Liverpool’s Kevin Doyle bid
Tuesday 23rd August 2011, 11:48AM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today gave Liverpool short shrift after they were linked with a £10m bid for Kevin Doyle.
Doyle is the subject of long-standing interest from Juventus and Arsenal.
But McCarthy feels any advances from Anfield are pointless because Wolves don’t want to sell one of their prize assets and would have no time to buy a replacement.
“I would ask a serious question as to that one,” said the boss.
“Where the hell is he going to play? They have Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt. That would do me for starters.
“He’s inked in in my team every week. I’m just not having it. “
McCarthy will ring the changes for tonight’s Carling Cup second round trip to Northampton.
The likes of Dorus De Vries, Jody Craddock, George Elokobi, Kevin Foley, Nenad Milijas, Adam Hammill, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are set to get a run-out against the npower League Two side at Sixfields.
Wolves are looking to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season, having made it two wins out of two so far in the Barclays Premier League with Sunday’s 2-0 win over Fulham at Molineux.
