Europe’s not for me admits Mick McCarthy
Monday 22nd August 2011, 11:25AM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was delighted to see his side maintain their 100 per cent start to the season – but says he is not keen on the idea of them qualifying for Europe any time soon.
Wanderers followed up their opening-day victory at Blackburn with a 2-0 home triumph against Fulham, who have already played eight other games this term due to their exploits in the Europa League qualifying rounds.
McCarthy was sure facing Ukrainian outfit Dnipro in the competition only three days earlier would have taken its toll on the Cottagers, the kind of problem he is glad he does not have to deal with.
“I think Fulham were at a definite disadvantage having played on Thursday night,” McCarthy said. “I can’t imagine – it will be a long time before I want to get into the Europa League.
“If we look like getting in through the Fair Play League, I’m going to tackle somebody!”
The result means Wolves have recorded back-to-back league wins at the start of a campaign for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
They also temporarily moved to the top of the Barclays Premier League table – before being overtaken by Manchester City later in the day.

Thought I’d amend this for you Mick-it will be a long time before you get into the Europa League.

So could Mr McCarthy perhaps tell us what the point of Wolves’ season actually is?
