Wolves to lose Jamie O’Hara for two weeks
Monday 11th July 2011, 11:18AM BST.
Jamie O’Hara is set to be out for two weeks as Wolves count the cost of the first week of pre-season training.
The £5m summer signing from Tottenham aggravated a sore calf in training on Friday in Ireland.
O’Hara tweeted: “Calf still sore, maybe it’s a strain. It could be a couple of weeks, but there are five weeks until the start of the season and I’ll be flying.”
If the midfielder is out for a fortnight, he will miss the opening friendly at Crewe this Saturday followed by the trip to Walsall a week tomorrow and the journey to Notts County on July 23.
In addition to O’Hara, Steven Fletcher (knee), and Adlene Guedioura (ankle) are also unable to take part in full training with the squad, who flew back from Dublin yesterday afternoon.
Striker Fletcher has a swelling at the back of his right knee and midfielder Guedioura returned with discomfort in his right ankle.
Head of medical Steve Kemp said: “It’s essential to make sure we don’t overload players and we don’t want those coming back from serious injuries to be training as much as those who have been preparing for pre-season throughout the off-season.
“Equally a player might be pulled out of training if they’re just feeling a niggle.”
