Mick McCarthy today revealed he is prepared for Wolves’ survival fight to go to the final day as he again looked to heap the pressure on their struggling rivals.

Wolves’ stunning 2-1 win over Manchester United left McCarthy’s battlers two points from safety and again galvanised the club and fans into believing they will escape the drop.

But the Molineux chief is ready for the race to go to the wire provided Wolves survive on May 22. “If we get out of it on the final day, so be it,” said the boss.

“It’s a matter of getting as many points as we need.”

And McCarthy again looked to heap pressure on the teams around Wolves when he insisted any side falling into the bottom three at this stage will find it “hellish” to get out of trouble.”
