Wolves today completed the signing of Adam Hammill from Barnsley and the winger immediately vowed to become a Molineux crowd pleaser.

Hammill, who turns 23 on Tuesday, signed a three-and-a-half-year deal to become the club’s first signing of the January window.

The Liverpool-born former England Under-19 international joined his new team-mates for training today for the first time after Wolves met the £500,000 buy-out clause in his contract.

And the Liverpool FA Youth Cup winner, who can play on either wing, promised to wow fans with his style of play.

“I like to create chances and run with the ball and try things that are different,” said Hammill. “I also like to chip in with goals and have already got eight this season. Wolves are a massive club and I’m looking forward to playing my part.

I think my ambitions go hand in hand with the club.”

Boss Mick McCarthy sees Hammill as one for the future but he could be included in Saturday’s squad to face Liverpool.

“He’s a creative player who can provide chances for others but can also score goals and has done that wherever he’s been,” said McCarthy.

“He’s a very good player who will add to our competition for places.”

Wolves beat off competition from Blackpool and Everton.
