Kevin Doyle in Wolves squad for Chelsea match
Wednesday 5th January 2011, 1:07PM GMT.
Kevin Doyle has given Wolves a huge boost by declaring himself fit to face Chelsea at Molineux tonight.
The £6.5m striker is fit after a torn thigh kept him out of the last four games.
And with Jody Craddock (thigh) and Karl Henry (medial ligaments) also having joined in full training yesterday, after missing 13 and six games respectively, boss Mick McCarthy is close to having three of his most important players back.
“Doyle’s in the squad and will be involved tonight,” said McCarthy.
“To have him back in contention is a real boost for us. Karl and Jody trained yesterday and neither are far away – Karl might be involved on Saturday at Doncaster.
“So, getting all those players back is a huge help to me because replacing those in the transfer window would be impossible.”
But the Molineux chief warned not to expect his returning players to have been transformed into super-heroes.
“These players aren’t coming back with tights, a cape on and knickers on the outside of them!” he said.
“Let’s not think they’re going to come flying onto the pitch tomorrow and that’s us ‘sorted’.”
But the one blow is that on-loan Chelsea utility man Michael Mancienne will be out for a further four weeks with patella tendon trouble in his knee.
