Shrewsbury Town began an away double header with a pleasing point at Brentford.

The visitors had the better of the chances all night with Marvin Morgan twice going close in the first half and Mark Wright curling an effort just wide.

Terry Gornell, on as an early sub for the injured Sam Winnall, also forced a smart save from Simon Moore in the Brentford goal before the break.

The visitors remained on the front foot in the second half and there was major controversy in the 73rd minute when Town appeared to be given a penalty for a handball from Tony Craig after a Marvin Morgan shot, only for the officials to downgrade their decision to a corner.

Gornell hit the post and Brentford had an effort disallowed for offside when an Adam Forshaw shot was deflected in off Paul Hayes in a frantic conclusion but the deadlock wasn't broken.
