Hartlepool 2 Shrewsbury Town 2
A Marvin Morgan brace wasn't enough to earn Shrewsbury their first away victory of the season as Hartlepool salvaged a point with a last minute equaliser.
Town fell behind when Jonathan Franks drilled an effort into the bottom corner on 15 minutes.
The visitors were level 12 minutes later when a free-kick from Joe Jacobson was nodded down by Darren Jones and Morgan made no mistake from 10 yards.
Chances were few and far between after half-time but Town looked to have won it when substitute Mark Wright played in Morgan who calmly slotted home with just eight minutes remaining.
Paul Parry hit the post and Wright fired a golden chance over before Hartlepool levelled in the 90th minute through Andy Monkhouse who volleyed home from 15 yards.
Shrewsbury still had a chance to win it but Morgan was denied a famous hat-trick by a smart save from Hartlepool goalkeeper Scott Flinders.

I'm the first to sing Shrewsbury's praises and the last to be openly negative, so my comment here is supposed to be constructive. Turner has said that he's been trying hard to find another striker and that he is also looking to strengthen in another position, well the strengthening of our defense seems to be the area for concern for me, although we have some talent back there we seems weaker than last season and have yet to see the level of solidity that Shane Candsell Sherrif brought to us.
Good luck in the hunt Turner but please speed things up otherwise we could see a succession of games where we throw away our efforts in the dying minutes. A great shame for Morgan that his goals only brought us a point rather than three.

We are certainly a weaker team than last year as all our best players have gone to other clubs who offered them better deals than were offered here. Last season we were flying but I think Roland's frugal approach not to spend money on better players might be our undoing keeping us in the doldrums and ,heaven forbid, a return to league two.

Wouldn't say we are a weaker TEAM than last season. The midfield is the strongest it has been for quite some time with the quality of Richards, Summerfield, Parry, Wildig, Asa Hall etc. Defensively on the whole we are very solid (no thrashings as of yet) & don't forget we have stepped up a level this season. What we have been prone to is lapses in concentration atthe back which are more likely to get punished in league one.
Where we are undoubtedly weaker is up front as we still haven't replaced our top scorer from last season & although Marvin is contributing at the moment, if we want to really compete this season we need to strengthen pretty urgently.
However the emphasis needs to be on strenghtening rather than just bringing someone in for the sake of it. We have missed out on a few targets according to reports & only the club itself knows whether that is because of what we are offering players or not.
The long term future of the club is always more important than 'chasing the dream', just ask Leeds, Pompey, Coventry & (I suspect in a few years time) Swindon fans.
GT will get it right.
