Shrewsbury Town today swooped for former Wales international Paul Parry as the 31-year-old completed his switch from Preston.

As reported in the Shropshire Star last week Parry - who can play on either wing, up front or at left back - has been on Town’s radar.

And the final details on a deal to bring the ex-Hereford and Cardiff ace to the Greenhous Meadow were agreed this morning.

Parry, who won 12 Welsh caps, worked under Town boss Graham Turner at Hereford from 1999 to 2004.

He was snapped up by Cardiff in 2004 where he made 214 appearances for the Championship club.

Parry moved to Preston in the summer of 2009 and went on to spend three seasons with the Lancashire club, including two in the Championship.

He becomes Shrewsbury’s ninth signing of the summer

Great signing and one to really get us going. I bet Parry is relieved to get away from Westley and his fitness first/ long ball only approach. Parry we receive the ball to feet and be encouraged to play - I hope! Well done Mr.Turner and the board.

Decent signing for you guys and a decent player. Turner will probably get the best out of him too. Good luck!
