Shrewsbury Town's new 2012-13 away strip unveiled

Shrewsbury Town have unveiled the new away strip for what they hope will be a return to League One in 2012-13.

Officials have taken the wraps off the white kit, which features blue and amber flashes.

The kit stems from a design received last season when Town invited supporters to send in ideas for a new home strip.

And community development manager Martin James is hoping the kit, produced by manufactures Joma, will strike a chord with supporters.

“It is important to have a distinctive away kit and this one we hope will be popular with the fans,” said James.

“It is in bright contrast to most other home kits.”

Town will use their kit as their change strip for next term, when the home strip will remain the same.

It retains blue and amber flashes, but in a proportion acceptable to the Football League to minimise the possibility of a clash of kits.

Meanwhile, loan midfielder Aaron Wildig believes the 1-0 triumph over Bradford yesterday was a “professional” victory for Town.

“I thought Bradford were one of the better sides I have seen since I have been here at the club,” said Wildig, who is on a temporary deal from Cardiff.

“But we defended very well and I can only remember one chance they had in the first half.”

Wildig is now facing competition for his midfield position with Jon Taylor’s return from suspension, but is delighted to have seen action in the last three games.

“That’s the first time in a couple of years I’ve played two games in three days,” he added.

lovely kit perpetually ruined by that popart lenny the lion badge. come on chairman wytcherley return to the shrews their traditional 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia badge. floreat salopia!

In full agreement with "the cothercot kid".

Pretty good effort. I like all white or all black away kits with detail which links to the home kit to reinforce club colours/identity. something shrews have been poor at over the years.

Personally I would have preferred a blue & amber slash (a la crystal palace) or bar across the chest (a la AC Milan)

Looking further ahead I hope we stick to blue & amber stripes for all future home kits as it is dinstinctive & original - different versions will still make it commercially viable - i can't think of many other clubs who keep changing their home strips quite so drastically so frequently

Totally agree with comments over the clip art lion which is frankly embarassing

i wish the shrews every success this season and next season in L1 but nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see the players pride in wearing a shirt with the shrews tradional badge of 3 loggerheads and a floreat salopia.

i hope the star encourages a debate on the issue. in the meantime come on rowland wycherley please make it happen soon.

the popart lenny the lion badge, that ruddy awful badge has been the club's bad luck for far too long. floreat salopia!!
