Shrewsbury Town swoop to get West Brom loan striker

Graham Turner this afternoon strengthened his Shrewsbury Town squad ahead of tomorrow’s derby trip to Hereford – snapping up West Brom striker Romaine Sawyers.
The 20-year-old hitman has arrived on a month’s loan and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s clash, with Marvin Morgan suspended.
Sawyers is the second player to come to Shrewsbury from the Baggies this season – following on from full-back James Hurst, who is now on loan at Chesterfield.
“He’s a young lad from West Brom who I’ve seen play a number of times,” said Turner.
“He also played on Tuesday afternoon for West Brom’s reserves and was watched by our chief scout, who came back with a glowing report.
“We are getting a good relationship with West Brom and they think highly of him and are pleased to let him come to us.
“They know we take care their players and that we play football in the right way and were happy with the progress that James Hurst made with us.”
Sawyers – who has been handed squad No 26 – becomes the fifth senior striker on Town’s books.
With Morgan out tomorrow, he will be vying with Terry Gornell, James Collins and Tom Bradshaw for a place in the starting line-up.
“We’ve got Marvin out for three matches and we’ve got James Collins and Terry Gornell who are both doing well,” added the Town boss.
“If I’m honest, and if Tom Bradshaw is honest with himself, Tom hasn’t done as well as we both would have expected from him.
“He’s got to work his way through it.”

On the Hereford game on paper you would put us straight down for a comfortable win, but this is a local derby and they usually throw up some strange results.
I would say , beware , beware, beware….the last time we met an almost sure bet away win on paper side was perhaps Aldershot, a similar side to Hereford very direct and not afraid to take chances, we need to be a fixed unit of physical muscle and get in there hard and fast, Hereford will be fighting for their lives as well as massive pride with the return of Turner to the club for the day.
Then we have the hard playing Morgan missing and the brilliant Shane- Candsell -Sherriff missing at the back, both of these factors could unsettle our flow of play in both positions, i would therefore say that the battle needs top be won in the midfield, get that right from the beginning and i could see us coming away with the win.
Please avoid the banana skin and get on with it…come on you Shrews!
