Left-out Marvin Morgan focusing on Shrewsbury Town’s long term goal
Wednesday 21st December 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Leading scorer Marvin Morgan has vowed to respond positively to being dropped from the Shrewsbury Town starting line-up, insisting: “I’m not a player to moan.”
Morgan was relegated to the substitutes’ bench for Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Macclesfield as boss Graham Turner went for an all-change attack.
Tom Bradshaw and James Collins were brought in to replace Morgan – who has scored eight in total this term but only once in his last 14 games – and Terry Gornell.
But former Aldershot hitman Morgan insisted he will not dwell on being left out.
“Everyone wants to play every game but we are a squad and I’m delighted to be part of it,” said the 28-year-old.
“I’ve just got to carry on doing what I’m doing and I’m not a player to moan about things.
“I always respect the manager’s decision. I will start again sooner or later and that’s the way you have to look at it.”
As he continues his quest to earn a recall, Morgan believes Town will relish the mouth-watering Boxing Day showdown at Cheltenham, who currently lie third and a place and two points above Town.
“We are in a great position and I think we are contenders for the League,” he added.
“The results went our way last weekend and we have got a massive game on Boxing Day.
“You can say it’s a six pointer because they can open a little gap on us or we can go above them if we get the right result.
“We are competing at the right end of the table and these are the type of games you want to be involved in.
“We will train hard this week and on Christmas Day and be ready for Cheltenham.”
Town look set to be backed by a sizeable away following at Whaddon Road.
Shrewsbury have sold in excess of 650 of their allocation of around 1,000 and ticket office manager Sean Evans said: “They are selling well and I would expect them all to go.”
Tickets for Cheltenham must be purchased by 6pm on Friday.

no goals in 14 games town need some one who would score 14 times in that period bet opposing defenders are trembeling in there boots

Marv has been unlucky to be dropped, but we have other strikers who need game time. Bradshaw and Collins both did really well against Macclesfield.
No striker in this division will be able to score 14 goals in 14 games! Even when he isn’t scoring, Morgan is a handful for any defence in this division, and his record of assists in recent games is a testament to that.
