Graham Turner planning Shrewsbury Town January deals

Boss Graham Turner has revealed his intention to bolster his Shrewsbury Town squad for a second half of the season promotion charge when the transfer window swings open in January.
Turner isn’t planning a raft of new additions in the new year but is keen to add “one or two” reinforcements to a squad which currently lies fourth in League Two and four points off the automatic promotion berths.
James Hurst, James Wallace and Aaron Wildig have all been signed on loan in the last six weeks, but Turner will also have the option of making permanent signings during next month.
“There wouldn’t be too many coming in,” he said.
“We would be very selective and maybe there are one or two positions that I think we need strengthening.”
Meanwhile, Turner is hoping the lop-sided nature of his side’s fixture list will prove beneficial in 2012.
Shrewsbury reach the midway point of the season with the New Year’s Eve trip to Bradford, by which stage they will have played three more League games – 13 – on the road than at the Greenhous Meadow, where they have yet to taste defeat this term.
“With our home form, you hope having three extra home games in the second half of the season will come into play,” added the Town boss.
“We seem to have played a lot away from home and we have played a lot of the sides near the top.
“We have been to Crawley, Southend, Burton and it should stand us in good stead for the second half of the season.”
A largely youthful Town reserve team went down 3-0 against an experienced Preston side in a friendly yesterday
The game was moved to Chorley after heavy rain left Preston’s training ground unplayable.
