Middlesbrough FA Cup trip reward for Shrewsbury Town win
Monday 5th December 2011, 7:50AM GMT.
An exciting trip to the north east is the reward for a hard fought victory in the FA Cup, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.
Middlesbrough is obviously not the same as playing Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal, but it is still a tie that should excite fans and players.
Town showed great spirit to come from behind to beat Rotherham although it could be argued luck was on our side with a red card and a penalty going in our favour.
With Middlesbrough flying high in the Championship, Town will certainly be underdogs, but I see it as a tie in which we have got a good chance of causing an upset.
So one of the Premier League’s big boys will just have to wait until the next round.
The league is obviously the priority this season, but a decent cup fun can bring financial rewards and give confidence to the players in the league.
Turner certainly seems to be taking the cup competition seriously after avoiding the chance to start current fringe players Collins, Bradshaw and Taylor.
Attention returns to the league this weekend with a trip to Aldershot who currently sit in the wrong half of the table.
Town should be favourites to win the game and will be aiming to make it an impressive six wins in a row in a bid to close the gap on the teams at the top.
