Shrewsbury Town 2 Rotherham 1
Saturday 3rd December 2011, 4:48PM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town reached the FA Cup third round for the first time since their giantkilling victory over Everton eight years ago with a battling 2-1 home win over Rotherham.
Graham Turner’s men fell behind seven minutes before the break when Matt Richards needlessly felled Sam Wood on the edge of the box allowing Lewis Grabban to give the visitors the lead.
But Town were handed a lifeline moments before half-time when Marcus Marshall was shown a second yellow card for felling Mark Wright.
And Shrewsbury made their numerical advantage count after the break. Captain and former Rotherham player Ian Sharps swept home an equaliser on 48 minutes before Nicky Wore fired home the winner from the penalty spot after Marvin Morgan was bundled over.
