Town are reaping the benefits of keeping clean sheets as they reduced the gap at the top to five points writes James Pugh.

Town picked up an impressive 2-0 victory against promotion-chasing Morecambe on Saturday with a hard-working performance.

In recent seasons Town have been unable to achieve automatic promotion, partly due to being unable to beat the league’s best teams.

Hopefully Town can show more consistency this season against the top teams after already suffering defeats to the hands of Crawley and Southend.

Saturday’s victory made it four wins in a row in league and cup, and only one defeat in nine. Now that sounds like the type of form you would expect from a title challenger, so long may it continue.

Town’s form has been helped by Turner bringing in new faces which has freshened up our relatively small squad and increased competition for places.

Most clubs would jump at the chance to have Collins and Ainsworth in their first team and Turner has the luxury to bring them off the bench.

With confidence high amongst the players, they will be looking to take their form back into the cup, starting with a victory at home to Rotherham on Saturday.

Rotherham are never an easy team to beat and the game finished all square in the league earlier this season.

But by their high standards they are having a disappointing season and Town will be big favourites on Saturday.

All we need then is a glamour tie against one of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’ in the later rounds to be able to cause an upset.
