Shrewsbury Town can’t rest on laurels – Ian Sharps
Wednesday 23rd November 2011, 11:02AM GMT.
Captain Ian Sharps today brought on-a-roll Shrewsbury Town back down to earth, declaring: “We are not the finished article.”
Town are in the midst of a six game unbeaten run – their longest of the season –and are fresh from Saturday’s goal extravaganza at Northampton in which Graham Turner’s side ran out 7-2 winners.
But Sharps admitted Town can’t rest on their laurels as they prepare for Saturday’s home clash with Morecambe.
“We are still fourth in the League and nowhere near where we want to be,” said the 31-year-old. “We can still improve some of our passing at times.
“As soon as you think you’re the finished article, you’re in for a big surprise and comedown.
“We have to take what we have done recently into Saturday against Morecambe because they will be a good side.”
Sharps believes the intense competition for places has been behind the strong run of form.
“The standard of training in the last few weeks has been exceptional,” he added.
