Shrewsbury Town hit magnificent seven against Northampton
Monday 21st November 2011, 8:30AM GMT.
Seven was the magic number for Town as they made it an impressive three consecutive wins on the road, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.
Town kept the pressure on the teams at the top with a fantastic victory at Northampton at Saturday.
The victory was made even sweeter with several players getting on the scoresheet.
Two of my criticisms of the team this season have been our away form and the amount of goals we have scored.
But Saturday’s victory made it three away wins in league and cup in a row and it was good to see the players showing a killer touch in front of goal.
It was also important for Morgan to get a goal after a barren run and for Collins to get on the scoresheet following his recent run out of the team.
Credit must go to Turner for Town’s recent good run of form who has moved quickly in the loan market to strengthen the squad after recent injuries.
With other teams at the top winning games, all Town can do is aim to do the same and hopefully come the end of the season it will be enough to achieve automatic promotion.
Town will be hoping to make it four wins in a row at home to promotion-chasing Morecambe on Saturday.
After three successful games on the road, I am sure the players will look forward to return home and will be aiming to get one over on their high-flying opposition who are unbeaten so far on their travels this season.
Saturday’s thrashing of Northampton should give them confidence going into the game and I am sure Turner’s instructions will be ‘same again lads’.
