Trewick hails Graham Turner’s latest milestone
Saturday 19th November 2011, 11:00AM GMT.
Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner celebrates his latest anniversary in football management this weekend with a glowing tribute from one of his closest allies.
Tomorrow represents 33 years to the day since Turner succeeded Richie Barker as Town’s player-manager at Shrewsbury.
The 64-year-old went on to lead Aston Villa, Wolves and Hereford, before returning to where it all began in the summer of 2010 to replace Paul Simpson.
It is a career which has brought five promotions and seen him manage 1,543 games, including this afternoon’s League Two trip to Northampton.
And Town No 2 John Trewick – who has worked alongside Turner for the last eight seasons at Hereford and now at the Greenhous Meadow – has nothing but admiration for the longevity of his manager’s career.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to have been in such a high pressure environment for so long,” said Trewick.
