Northampton 2 Shrewsbury Town 7
Saturday 19th November 2011, 5:01PM GMT.
Seven-up Shrewsbury produced a stunning display at Northampton to make it three away victories on the trot.
Graham Turner’s side ran riot to heap the problems on struggling and managerless Northampton.
A deflected shot from Mark Wright gave Town a 16th minte lead and the rampant visitors made it three at half time thanks to strikes from Wright and Aaron Wildig in the run-up to the break.
A free-kick from Ben Tozer briefly gave Northampton hope after the re-start but Town ran amok in the closing 10 minutes.
Marvin Morgan grabbed the fourth on 81 and, while Adebayo Akinfenwa made it 4-2 moments later, there was still time for Shrewsbury to put the gloss on a memorable victory.
Substitute James Collins scored with his first touch, Joe Jacobson scored his first in Town colours before an own goal from popular Town old boy Kelvin Langmead compounded the hosts’ misery and completed Shrewsbury’s stunning afternoon.

Just awesome, i was hoping for a thrashing, but this was way better than expected, a great tribute to all concerned and a massive boost to our goal difference.
Graham Turner, 33 years eh, well done again, the most steady and level headed manager in England, why has he not been tipped for the England managers roll…maybe because he wants to achieve greatness at the grass roots of football and watch players flourish and maybe go on to gain an England shirt or two, not to mention our Irish and Welsh International budding hopefull’s.
What a truly terrific day Saturday was…it was my Birthday and ironinically i had left Oxfordshire to travel and celebrate it with family and friends leaving what would have been a more local game for me over in Northampton….bleedin marvellous!
