A debut to forget for Town’s new boy, but credit to the rest of the team who saw us home against struggling Dagenham, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.

Strikers getting goals, a clean sheet and an away victory – all in all a good day’s work for Town’s players who helped us move up to fourth in the table.

On paper it was a game Town should have won, but to have been reduced to 10 men, perhaps harshly, gave us a mountain to climb.

But the players held their nerve and showed the type of team spirit needed in a team serious about promotion.

Sympathy has to go to Town new boy James Wallace who would have been desperate to impress on his debut.

Hopefully he will get chance to show what he can do in Town’s colours because he is an exciting prospect that can only improve our squad.

With Town short of midfield options at the moment hopefully Town will appeal the red-card decision.

Three clean sheets in a row makes very good reading for Town and we finally seem to have a settled back five which has helped.

With plenty of options up front, I still have a slight concern with the quantity and quality in the middle of the park.

Town hit the road again in their next game with a trip to struggling Northampton. Expect a similar game and perhaps the starting 11 that we saw against Dagenham.

Town’s players can go there with confidence and go all out for a win to put pressure on the teams at the top.
