Collins back in contention for Shrewsbury Town

Disciplined striker James Collins is set to be back in contention as Shrewsbury Town aim to mark their 100th League clash at the Greenhous Meadow with a bang tomorrow.
Collins sat out Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Accrington Stanley after the club launched an investigation into an incident last weekend when the car the striker was travelling in was involved in a motorway crash.
But the signs today were that Collins would be considered for a place in the 16 by boss Graham Turner.
“James has been the subject to club discipline and, as far as we are concerned, that will be the issue over and done with,” said Turner.
Collins is likely to face a battle with Terry Gornell – recovered from the knee problem – for a place on the bench with Marvin Morgan and Tom Bradshaw likely to retain their places as Town go for a record-equalling eighth home win in a row.
Gornell was back in training yesterday after six stitches in a gash just below his knee forced him to miss the clash with his old club Accrington.
Elsewhere on the injury front, full back Carl Regan could be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring problem but there is encouraging news on defender Reuben Hazell who is making impressive progress from the knee injury which it was feared would rule him out until well into the new year.
Wimbledon make their first trip to the Greenhous Meadow on the back of a tough week which has seen them ship nine goals against Torquay and Crawley.
But Turner stressed: “We will take note of Wimbledon but, as we always say, it’s about what we do.
“After tomorrow we will have played eight at home and eight away and I think, with just over a third of the season gone, we will get a truer picture.”
As well as consolidating their place in the top three, Town could match a club record of eight successive home wins.
