Ben Herd set for Manchester United backlash
Tuesday 25th October 2011, 12:13PM BST.
Former Shrewsbury Town favourite Ben Herd has braced himself for a Manchester United backlash as he prepares to lead Aldershot into Carling Cup battle against Sir Alex Ferguson’s shell-shocked side tonight.
Right-back Herd, still a popular figure at the Greenhous Meadow after a four-year spell between 2005 and 2009, will captain the League Two side as they aim to cause a stunning upset at the Recreation Ground.
But he admitted United’s 6-1 drubbing at the hands of neighbours Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday has done his side few favours.
“I’m sure United will be looking for a big reaction and may even field a slightly stronger team than they were going to,” said the 25-year-old.
