Striker Marvin Morgan is turning to superstition to end his five-game Shrewsbury Town goal drought – by lacing up a new pair of boots.

The summer signing, a free agent after his release by Aldershot, is Town’s top scorer this season with seven goals in all competitions.

But his recent barren spell has forced him to turn to an old ritual that he first picked up when playing at non-League Yeading alongside DJ Campbell – now in the Premier League with Queen’s Park Rangers.

“It’s a mental thing with me,” said Morgan, 28. “If I don’t score in a while I just go and get some new boots and I’ve been doing it for a while.”
