Turner’s words to Shrewsbury Town ahead of Barnet visit
Friday 7th October 2011, 12:13PM BST.
Boss Graham Turner has fired a warning to his Shrewsbury squad over tomorrow’s unpredictable visitors Barnet as Town attempt to re-discover the winning thread in League Two.
The unpredictable Bees find themselves in the bottom four in League Two but have produced some eye-catching results on the road, including a 3-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy triumph at Gillingham on Tuesday.
It’s an important afternoon for Shrewsbury as they aim recover from last week’s 3-0 defeat at Southend.
And Turner has warned his side they must be at their best to maintain their impressive home record which has seen them drop just two points in five games.
“It won’t be easy,” said Turner, who was inducted into Shrewsbury’s Hall of Fame last night and was today marking the 25th anniversary since taking the job at Wolves.
“We have had them watched and they have threats in their team.
“They had a good win on Tuesday at Gillingham when I understand both clubs put out strong teams.
“Sometimes you get upsets in terms of the form book, so we have to guard against that.”
Turner has selection options to consider but is keeping his cards close to his chest over the possibility of changes in the wake of the Southend defeat.
Terry Gornell, Matt Richards, Chris Neal, Jon Taylor and captain Ian Sharps – who is bidding to overcome a minor calf problem – were all on the bench at Roots Hall and will be hoping for the nod.
Full back Carl Regan returned to training yesterday after a leg injury left him sidelined for two months, but will not be considered for the Barnet clash.
- Town fans are urged to take their seats early for tomorrow with the legends inducted into the Hall of Fame at last night’s dinner due to be presented to the crowd at around 2.45pm.
