Shrewsbury Town’s impressive recent run came to an end with defeat in the top-of-the-table clash at Southend.
The hosts took a 27th minute lead when Liam Dickinson converted a penalty after a foul by Jeremaine Grandison on Neil Harris.
Town pushed for a leveller after the break with Gramdison striking the bar but two injury time goals from Mark Phillips and Harris – another penalty after a foul by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff on substiute Ryan Hall – sealed the visitors’ fate.
