Port Vale 2 Shrewsbury Town 3
Sunday 18th September 2011, 1:41PM BST.
Two goals in the opeing 15 minutes helped Shrewsbury Town to a 3-2 derby day victory at Port Vale, and a place in the top three of League Two.
Marvin Morgan’s fine individual effort after just three minutes and Mark Wright’s cool finish on the quarter hour set Town on their way to the win.
Ben Williamson halved the deficit with a clever lob following an error by Shrewsbury stopper Ben Smith, but Lionel Ainsworth restored the two goal cushion four minutes after the break.
Williamson’s second eight minutes from time set up a nervous finale but Graham Turner’s men held on to record a richly deserved victory.
