Blog: I think most fans would take Town’s current league position at the end of the season, writes Shrewsbury Town blogger James Pugh.
Third, of course, would get us automatic promotion which is what every fan wants the club to achieve this season.
But if the season was to end today that would be boring and we would all miss the highs and lows that the players put us through every year.
On Saturday Town made it four league wins in a row following victory against local rivals Hereford, thanks to two goals from Marvin Morgan.
In the end it was a comfortable victory despite a few scares in the second half caused by Terry Gornell’s red card.
But should he have been sent off? Let’s just say it wasn’t the worst refereeing decision that I have seen this season.
I had my doubts when Town brought in Morgan as a replacement for Matt Harrold during the summer. For me there isn’t too much difference between them and I thought neither was capable of scoring 15+ goals in a season.
But so far Morgan has really impressed me and not just with his goals. The challenge for him is to do it consistently over the season.
Town’s impressive run in the league will do wonder for the players confidence ahead of three tricky away games, including the trip to the capital to face Arsenal.
On Tuesday it’s a trip to Bristol Rovers who made significant changes over the summer, but have had an indifferent start to the season.
And then on Saturday it’s another local derby – this time against Port Vale who should be challenging for promotion come the end of the season.
On current form Town should be aiming for four points from the two games, but two draws wouldn’t be the end of the world at this stage of the season.
