Jubilant Tom Bradshaw today returned to Shrewsbury Town duty confident his international exploits can rub off on his domestic form.
The 19-year-old striker was back at the Greenhous Meadow still in buoyant mood following his debut goal for Wales under 21 in a UEFA qualifier in Montenegro on Tuesday.
Bradshaw gave Wales the lead – coolly lobbing the ball over new £10m Manchester City defender Stefan Savic and slotting home from just inside the box – and also struck the bar from 25 yards before the young Dragons were beaten 3-1.
And the thrilled forward – whose only Town start so far this term came in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Walsall – believes his goal and performance for county will benefit him on the club stage when his chance arrives.
“We were disappointed to lose but it was a great experience,” said Bradshaw, who also scored on his Welsh under 19 debut.
“To get the goal was really pleasing and I think I probably watched it about 70 times when I got back last night!
“It gives you confidence to get a goal at that level and hopefully I can use that when my opportunity comes along at Shrewsbury.
“Terry Gornell and Marvin Morgan have been doing really well so all I can do is keep working hard in training and be determined to take my chance with both hands when it comes along.”
While Bradshaw has enjoyed a memorable week with Wales, he was also delighted to receive news of Town’s 1-0 victory at Gillingham on Saturday.
“We spent two days at Chelsea’s training ground last week which was fantastic,” he added.
“They have got pitches everywhere and there are loads of lakes and water features.
“We flew out to Montenegro on Friday but I managed to keep in touch with the Shrewsbury game on Saturday and I was buzzing.
“To win at Gillingham was a fantastic result from the boys.”
