Boss Graham Turner believes the ingredients are there for his Shrewsbury Town side to pack a Premier punch and cause a Carling Cup upset tonight.

Town welcome top flight new boys Swansea to the Greenhous Meadow aiming to grab the second round headlines.

Shrewsbury have already outlined their giantkilling exploits with a round one victory over Derby, who find themselves in the top two in the Championship.

Now they aim to claim a top flight scalp for the first time since Everton were famously dumped out of the FA Cup in January 2003.

Turner said: “There will be an upset or two in this round of the Carling Cup, and why not at the Meadow?

“We have played against a good Championship side and done really well.

“Now it’s one step up to play against Premier League players and we hope we can do the same – and we believe we can.

“We have got the players capable of upsetting most defences and if we get our game going, we can cause an upset.

“I don’t think there is a doubt about that but we have to have a bit of luck, work hard and play to our maximum.”

Turner is likely to name an unchanged team after Saturday’s morale-boosting victory over Crewe.

Full-back Carl Regan again misses out through injury but young striker Tom Bradshaw could be in contention for a place on the bench – Town can name seven substitutes in this competition – as he returns from a knee problem.

Young winger Jon Taylor has been kept in “isolation” as he continues to battle a bug.

Reports from south Wales suggest Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers could ring the changes from the side that played out a goalless draw with Wigan on Saturday.

“I imagine there will be one or two changes but they will be a good quality team with a nice style of play,” added Turner.

“We expect their side to be strong and if their are changes, they will be wound up trying to push for a place in the first team. But we have to concentrate on ourselves.”

Should the scores be level after 90 minutes, tonight’s tie will go to extra-time and then penalties.
